Livestock drive Wildemann
On Whitsunday, 8 June 2025, the traditional cattle drive will take place in Wildemann in the Upper Harz Mountains.
This tradition, which has been going on for over 40 years, attracts holidaymakers from all over Germany to the romantic mountain village of Wildemann every year.mountain village of Wildemann. The wake-up call takes place at 7.00 a.m. with shepherd signals from the Harz shepherds and whip crackers, which prepare the festively decorated herd of cows, the so-called "ladies' band", for the drive-out with a festive parade.
The parade with numerous Harz groups and associations, including shepherds, cowherds, whip crackers and brass bands, which can be accompanied by all visitors, starts at 10.15 a.m. from the mountain pasture at Schwarzewald. The destination is the "Klein Tirol" farm in Wildemann, where it arrives at around 11.00 a.m. and the town cowherds are ceremoniously appointed with musical accompaniment. Catering is also provided there. The cow ball party takes place in the evening from 8.00 pm.
