Night skiing in the Harz Mountains

At Matthias-Schmidt-Berg in Sankt Andreasberg, you can also enjoy winter fun at night under floodlights. The Matthias-Schmidt-Berg ski area opens its lifts at nightfall on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, weather permitting. This means you can continue your skiing fun after a regular day's skiing on the floodlit and freshly groomed piste. You will realise that skiing in floodlights after dark is quite different from skiing during the day. But one thing is certain: night skiing is just as much fun as during the day. Ski area "Auf der Rose" Altenau

A practice slope and easy runs await you in the "Auf der Rose" ski area. You can easily reach the Altenau winter sports resort from Berlin, Hamburg and Hanover. The "Auf der Rose" ski area is an ideal practice area for skiing and snowboarding newcomers, as beginners will find a flat slope. A pony lift takes you comfortably up to the piste.

Ski area "Racepark Schulenberg/Skialpinum"

In Schulenberg in the Oberharz you will find the Ski-Alpinum, a winter sports centre in the most scenic location with 4 downhill slopes of all levels of difficulty. Four different routes and two drag lifts guarantee you pure skiing pleasure. Of course, you can also use all the pistes on your snowboard. Olympia: The run is around 1,200 metres long and has a difficulty level of blue to red

Slalom: The course is around 600 metres long and has a difficulty level of black

Wolfgang: The course is around 650 metres long and has a red difficulty level

Standard (family run): The course is around 800 metres long and has a difficulty level of blue

Notes:

The car park shuttle is free of charge. There are plenty of free car parks. The Alpinum-Schulenberg is not directly accessible by car for environmental reasons. However, two vans offer a transfer service between the surrounding car parks and the ski area during opening hours. Please call 0177 3263508 if you have any questions about the shuttle service.

Ski area "Am Rinderkopf" Torfhaus

The mountain station of the "Großer Torfhauslift Am Rinderkopf" ski lift is located at approx. 820 metres above sea level in Torfhaus. An approx. 400 metre long descent awaits you, on which you ski 80 metres in altitude. The ski piste is regularly groomed. The ski lift is located directly below the youth hostel at the NDR transmitter mast. Free parking is available directly at the lift.

Wurmberg Braunlage ski resort

At 1000 metres above sea level, the Wurmberg is the largest and most snow-sure alpine ski area in northern Germany. Long downhill runs of all levels of difficulty and modern lifts are its greatest strengths.

Ski area Matthias-Schmidt-Berg St. Andreasberg

Winter sports have been a tradition in Sankt Andreasberg since the invention of skis at the end of the 18th century. Take a holiday in Sankt Andreasberg and enjoy winter sports experiences in the Upper Harz. Sankt Andreasberg is the highest mountain town in the Harz at 600 to 900 metres above sea level. In this winter sports resort, you have many opportunities to spend your leisure time in the snow. Two ski stadiums equipped with lifts and well-prepared slopes for snowboarding and alpine skiing, floodlit toboggan runs and groomed winter hiking trails await snow-loving winter holidaymakers. The two popular ski areas on Matthias-Schmidt-Berg and Sonnenberg make Sankt Andreasberg a winter sports Eldorado within easy reach of Berlin, Hamburg and Hanover.

On the Matthias-Schmidt-Berg in Sankt Andreasberg, the largest ski area in the entire Harz Mountains, you can expect a piste area of almost 24 hectares in winter. Here you will find slopes of all levels of difficulty for beginners as well as for ambitious skiers.

Sonnenberg ski area

On the Sonnenberg in the mountain town of Sankt Andresasberg, three T-bar lifts and a pony lift offer alpine snow fun. Snowboarders and freestyle fans will get their money's worth on the new Sonnenallee on the Sonnenberg with its A-frame box, flat box, soft box, rails and kicker. Cross-country skiers also love the winter sports area on the Sonnenberg, as it offers direct access to the Sankt Andreasberg cross-country ski trail system. There is also a toboggan run in the immediate neighbourhood. In the winter sports area, which is 800 metres above sea level, you can often ski until spring. There is free parking and a bus stop for public buses right next to the ski centre.
