Altenau Winter Market
The Altenau winter market in the market garden awaits visitors from 19 December to 31 December 2025 from 14:00 to 21:00. Look forward to festive stalls, pre-Christmas music and the big New Year's Eve party with DJ! With its small decorated wooden stalls, the traditional winter market in the mountain town of Altenau invites you to visit from 19 to 31 December. Every day from 14:00 to 21:00, a varied programme is offered with mulled wine and sweets.
Father Christmas visits the winter market on Christmas Eve and the popular open-air New Year's Eve party takes place on 31 December from 9.00 pm to 1.00 am. A highlight on New Year's Eve is the traditional torchlight hike with the Harzklub Zweigverein Altenau. The hike starts at 9.30 pm at the HZV Altenau hiking meeting point at the bus car park and ends at around 11.00 pm at the starting point. Torches can be purchased on site for a fee.
