Forest Climate Trail in Buntenbock
A centuries-old cultural landscape invites you to go hiking
The idyllic village of Buntenbock lies on a plateau in the Upper Harz Mountains - surrounded by vast mountain meadows, glistening ponds and dense forests. Time seems to pass a little more slowly here.
For many people, this landscape is a place of peace, relaxation and closeness to nature. But the forest can do much more than just look beautiful.
The importance of forests for our climate
What role do forests actually play in our climate? How do trees influence the air we breathe? And why are healthy forests more important today than ever before?
Together with Hanna, Luke and Pjotr from the Brockenbande, you will embark on an exciting journey of discovery along the forest climate trail. At several interactive stations, you will learn how closely forests and the climate are connected - and what we can all do to protect these valuable ecosystems. The approx. 7 km loop is particularly suitable for families and contains various interactive stations as well as scannable QR codes that can be used to play audio explanations suitable for children. All paths are accessible and can be travelled with pushchairs. The trail starts at the Buntenbock mountain meadow park, where free parking is available.
