Route description of the adventure bike tour through the Harz Mountains

The beautiful cycle tour starts at the "Rothenberger Straße / Hüttenteich" car park and leads along the old railway line in the direction of Clausthal. The ascent is steady but only moderate. At the end of the former railway line, cycle up the small ascent and follow the forest road/border path on the right for around 3 kilometres before turning right into the "Langetal". You will pass the "Langeteich", which is part of the Upper Harz Water Management UNESCO World Heritage Site and is therefore a protected monument. Then continue along the forest road to the end of the Langetal valley, cycle on to the left and reach the L 517. Oker dam along the dam. You cross the Bramkebrücke bridge, at the crossroads continue in the direction of Goslar until you reach the main dam wall, which you then cross to continue the cycle tour along the Oker dam on the tarmac forest road. Rest benches along the dam invite you to linger. After around 8 km, you reach the outer dam wall and cross it, cycling on towards Altenau and follow the main road until you can turn into Rothenbergstraße to return to the starting point.

Explore the Oker reservoir

In summer, the Oker reservoir offers ideal conditions for water sports. Here you can swim, surf or go on boat trips. The excursion boat, which operates on the reservoir almost all year round, takes visitors on a discovery tour of the numerous and beautifully situated bays.

But anglers also get their money's worth at the Oker reservoir and can enjoy fishing numerous different species of fish.
